Senate Confirms DOT Undersecretary Nominee

top story photo The Senate voted on Monday evening to confirm the nomination of Derek Kan to be Undersecretary for Policy at the Department of Transportation. Kan was confirmed on a vote of 90-7.

In related news, the Senate also voted 50-47 on Monday to end debate on the nomination of Steven Bradbury to be General Counsel at DOT, setting up a final confirmation vote later this week. A number of Democrats are opposed to Bradbury because he authored the so-called "torture memo" when he was at the Department of Justice under President George W. Bush.
