Senate Panel to Vote on DHS Secretary Nominee

top story photo The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will vote on the nomination of Kirstjen Nielsen to be Secretary of Homeland Security on Tuesday, November 14.

If approved by the committee during its meeting, scheduled for 9:30 a.m., the nomination would then move the Senate floor for a confirmation vote.

Nielsen has worked on cybersecurity and homeland security issues in a number of roles, including senior positions at TSA and on the White House Homeland Security Council under President George W. Bush. Nielsen has worked closely with former Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly in the Trump Administration - first as his Chief of Staff at DHS and later as Deputy White House Chief of Staff.
