The Department of Transportation has announced another round of AIP grants, this time totaling $318.1 million for 78 airports in 34 states.
"The Airport Improvement Program helps to maintain our aviation infrastructure and supports safety, capacity, security and environmental improvements," Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao said in a statement. "This is an important investment in these airports and the economic vitality of their respective communities."
So far in 2017, DOT has awarded nearly 1,580 grants to around 1,294 airports, for a total of $2.8 billion. Those grants include funding for 646 runway projects and 557 taxiway projects.
