Roanoke Airport To Gain DOT Air Service Development Funds

top story photo The Roanoke (Virginia) Regional Airport Commission announced that will receive $750,000 in federal funding from DOT's Small Community Air Service Development Program to help bring new nonstop, roundtrip service to Roanoke Regional Airport from Dallas Fort Worth, Denver or Detroit.

The commission can use the funds for a revenue guarantee, a marketing program, and fee waivers. This effort was a community collaboration in which the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Botetourt Chamber of Commerce worked with local businesses to secure pledges to match the federal funds, according to the announcement.
