To fly airliners, co-pilots need at least 1,500 hours of flight time, however, the Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee wants to relax this rule, suggesting that airline-based classroom training can take the place of an unspecified number of hours. According to USA Today, a Senate panel has already approved the provision, which the Air Line Pilots Association and the Association of Flight Attendants are both against.
